Tis the season to be jolly - Travelling on the tube at Christmas 2002

Well we'll have a jolly old time on New Year's Eve as there's free travel sponsored by a very nice company who produce trendy flavoured vodka. For all travel times over the holiday period:

Christmas Eve

A Saturday service will operate, changed as below:

On the Bakerloo and Central lines, more trains will run between 07:30 and 10:00;

On the Metropolitan line, fast services will run from Amersham to Moorgate at 07:08, 07:28 and 08:03;

On the Waterloo & City line for all you city commuters, trains will start at Monday to Friday times, run every 6 minutes until 10:00 and then run a Saturday service with last trains at Saturday times.

At 19:00 all lines will reduce frequencies to approximately every 5-6 minutes in central London (10-20 minute intervals generally on the branches). At 22:00 there will be a further reduction in frequencies to approximately every 10 minutes in central London (20-30 minute intervals generally on the branches). Last trains will run at Sunday times.

All other stations will be open normally, apart from Cannon Street and Marylebone which will close at 21:00 and Shoreditch which will be closed all day.

Christmas Day

No Underground Service at all. Well they do need a break!!!!

Boxing Day

Trains will start running around 8.30am, with last trains finishing at Sunday times.

Watch out as there are some stations closed on Boxing Day. See this page for a list of stations.

27th December

A Saturday service will operate, changed as follows:

On the Bakerloo and Central lines, extra trains will run between 07:30 and 10:00;

On the Metropolitan line, fast extra services will run from Amersham to Moorgate at 07:08, 07:38 and 08:08;

On the Waterloo & City line, trains will start at Monday to Friday times, run every 6 minutes until 10:00 and then run a Saturday service with last trains at Saturday times.

28th & 29th December

Back to a normal service.

30th December

A Saturday service will operate, changed as follows:

On the Bakerloo and Central lines, extra trains will run between 07:30 and 10:00;

On the Metropolitan line, fast extra services will run from Amersham to Moorgate at 07:08, 07:38 and 08:08;

On the Waterloo & City line, trains will start at Monday to Friday times, run every 6 minutes until 10:00 and then run a Saturday service with last trains at Saturday times.

Shoreditch station will be closed all day.

New Year's Eve, Tuesday 31 December

A Saturday service will operate with some changes - but the best news is that there's FREE TRAVEL on the tube after 11.45pm until the last Underground, Docklands Light Railway and Tramlink service, and until 4.30am on buses. Many thanks to Smirnoff Ice for sponsoring this iniatiative.
