Well we'll have a jolly old time on New Year's Eve as there's free travel sponsored by a very nice company who produce trendy flavoured vodka. For all travel times over the holiday period:
Christmas Eve This will be a Saturday service, Cannon Street and Marylebone which will close at 2100 and Shoreditch will be closed all day. At 7pm all lines will reduce frequencies to approximately every 5-6 minutes in central London and 10-20 minutes outside central London. At 10pm there will be a further reduction in frequencies to around every 10 minutes in central London and as much as 20-30 minutes outside central London. Christmas Day No Underground Service at all. Well they do need a break!!!! Boxing Day Trains will start running around 8.30am, with last trains finishing at Sunday times. Watch out as there are some stations closed on Boxing Day. See this page for a list of stations. 27th, 28th, 29th & 30th December Back to a normal service. New Year's Eve, Monday 31 December A Saturday service will operate with some changes - but the best news is that there's FREE TRAVEL on the tube after 11.45pm until the last Underground, Docklands Light Railway and Tramlink service, and until 4.30am on buses. Many thanks to Smirnoff Ice for sponsoring this iniatiative. Check out this page for the early closures of certain stations. New Year's Day The tube starts up again with a Saturday timetable. Reduced services of about every 10 minutes in the central area and at least every 30 minutes on branches will run until about 10am. After that time things get back to a standard Saturday service. However the Waterloo & City line will be closed all day. There's a few more modifications here. Hints on travelling at Xmas and the New Year Watch out for people being sick - there's lots of office parties and revelling and if you're drunk on the tube it increases your chances of being sick. Just think about all the movement, joggling about, close proximity to people and you're halfway there already. Certain stations will be packed. Despite the downturn in tourism since September 11th, London still gets very, very busy at Xmas as loads of people from around the country flock here to do their shopping. So expect to take longer than normal getting into and out of the following stations: Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, High Street Kensington, Leicester Square and Covent Garden.
