First, I am proud to work for ForeignExchange Translations, a company that focuses on the translation needs of companies in the medical devices, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, automotive, and financial-service sectors. ForeignExchange Translations is a dynamic company. My colleagues bring a range of experience and backgrounds to the work as well as an enthusiastic willingness to share that experience. Taken together, the position offers an exciting opportunity to learn more about the localization process from beginning to end.
Second, being a full-time employee of a localization provider will necessarily have an impact on the focus and perspective of my columns. As a writer, I think it's only ethical to acknowledge my professional affiliations.
Since the column has been on hiatus for several weeks, I decided to take this opportunity to restate and, if necessary, redefine my objectives.
My articles will continue to be written for a general audience and will assume no prior knowledge of localization. In addition to articles describing various aspects of the process, I hope to include more interviews with industry professionals and, from time to time, publish columns written by members of the localization community. My column will address the cultural, economic, political and legal trends important to the industry with occasional articles regarding new technology.
In the past and as a resident of Canada, I have tried to spotlight the industry in Canada. I firmly believe that domestic Canadian providers bring an important dimension to localization in North America. As such, I will do my best to maintain that focus despite the move to Boulder.

In the next few weeks, I plan to revamp my home page. The events calendar will be discontinued. The North East Localization Special Interest Group, monitored by Suzanne Topping is a terrific source for information including industry events announcements.
My localization "yellow pages" will continue to be updated and expanded. If your company is not yet listed, please let me know. Also, feel free to send a logo to accompany your listing. Other links to useful localization-related web sites are also appreciated.
