Breeding Your Dog, Part 7Handling puppies should be kept to a minimum and young children should never be allowed to be around the litter without supervision. Visitors should never be allowed to handle puppies for at least the first three weeks. Hands should be washed and shoes removed before entering the house. Parvo and distemper can be carried in on shoes and spread to the litter faster than lightning. More than one breeder has lost an entire litter after prospective buyers have unknowingly carried the virus into the home. You can never be too careful. Next time, weaning, prospective buyers and picking the right home for your babies. Woof!!
