Got Time? Now What?Everyone always says that in order to do all the things you aspire to do, you need to make time for yourself. But for those who can find the time, and are committed to taking it, what exactly should he or she do? Here are a few suggestions. Whether you can make a weekend of it, a few hours of it, or a day, these are sure to help.
1. Write in a journal. If you don't have one get one. Even if you don't like to write, this is a great outlet. You don't have to write as if you're going to publish, either. Just rant! 2. Dance. Can't dance? Don't worry, just try! When everyone's gone, turn up your favorite tunes and let your body do the rest. 3. Lunch dates. Here's a good way to ease the stresses of your daily life and get in touch with those on your "I need to spend time with..." list. You'll get something done that you've been meaning to, but it won't really be work because catching up with an old friend is just as therapeutic for you as it is for him or her. Have a friend that is just too far away? Send an e-mail, card, letter, or call. 4. Spa time. Save your money, because having a massage or facial done not only keeps you looking good, but it is great for the soul. Being pampered does not make you snobby or conceited, it shows that you are responsible and recognize the need to take time for yourself. 5. Exercise. Sounds like work, doesn't it? It is, but it's got great benefits besides getting you in shape. Working out releases endorphins, which can make your mood a whole lot peppier. 6. Cuddle up. Don't necessarily watch television, grab a book or gaze out your window. Enjoy a warm beverage (this is the perfect time of year to do so in many places!) 7. Travel. You don't have to go far to enjoy yourself. If you have a weekend, plan something daring, go somewhere you wouldn't otherwise go to. If you have an afternoon, take that drive out to the countryside, or into the city. Sometimes doing nothing (window shopping, reading, writing) in a different environment can give you a whole new perspective. 8. Sleep. It's okay to nap a little, especially if you never seem to get enough ZZZ's. What helps you relax? Do it. Anything that gets your mind off of everyday life is helpful for your soul, and needed much more than you think.
