When Relationships Matter Most

It's hard to even think of being happy at a time like this. Our security has been threatened in America, and our hopes seem to be somewhere far off, distant from everything we know. It's difficult to find a positive in light of the cowardly terrorists who attempted to destroy our country. But the fact is, they haven't. Americans have emerged stronger than ever. And though it is hard, life must continue. I wish I could write an article to explain how to continue your life. But I struggle each day to make mine go on. I even feel guilty when I'm happy. I cry at night, and sit in bed thinking of all the people who innocently died. I think of the people - many of the greatest - who were in those planes, and in the buildings. I think of a nation that weeps. But I also see a nation that needed the attacks in order to have a full-fledged wake up call. If anything, the most important message I try to convey on this site is to enhance and treasure our relationships with those around us. From the stranger on the street to your best friend, all of our relationships can be better because we now realize how important life and love are. They are the very core of our existence, and if you ask me, the very core of why we were put on this earth by God. What hits home the most to many of us are our loved ones, that is why this is such a crucial time to assess our relationships. Sure, if they are unhealthy, and you need out and you get out of one, you may want to consider doing so peacefully. But for the broken relationships that you've doubted for so long, maybe now is the time to mend severed ties. For those that you are already close to, spend more time together. Not only will you know they are sure that you love and care about them, it will help you heal. It will empower you to help others. What more can I say right now than this? It is all I know how to do recently. But it is, by far, perhaps the most important thing we can all do right now. Hug your children tonight when you tuck them in. Give your significant other a kiss. Visit your elderly family members in nursing homes. Say hi as you pass strangers on the
