Get Moving

It doesn't take much to improve your health. Of course eating a blend of proteins, essential oils and all the "green stuff" certainly does you well. But nothing compares to exercise.

I began walking months ago. Just to get out. Actually as a part of a meditation exercise. The book recommended taking a walk and focusing only upon what you saw, smelled, heard, and touched.

Living by the ocean, it wasn't hard to get absorbed in the salt water mist, hear the seagulls chirp, and feel the sand. It was utterly delightful. Before I knew it, my quarter-mile walks turned into mile walks. And before I knew it, I had so much energy, I was raising my heartbeat as I enjoyed all the sights, smells and sounds.

Now, I'm no master workout-a-holic. Though I don't like sitting on the couch eating Bon Bon's, I don't like working up a sweat.

My happy medium was walking...what's yours?

I believe it is detrimental to find a form of fitness that can help you stay healthy. For me, it was more than just physical-- I was receiving relaxation benefits as well by focusing on my surroundings. You can, too.

My sister, recently diagnosed with Epsteen Barr ("Join the club, sis, I have it too) is utterly paranoid that every ailment she has is caused by the Epsteen Barr. I've told her over and over again (I've suffered for four years) that the key is to get up and get moving, even if it is just a little bit.

Same goes for nearly every person who asks me about my exercise regimen, and some who don't. Do what little that you can. Enjoy it...soon enough, it will become a part of your lifestyle...you won't feel right without doing it. And then, you will be living a healthy lifestyle. Yes, it is complicated, and it requires a lot of discipline, but it is doable.

I don't walk everyday-- in fact, I should do it more. But I get out there, and when I don't, even when I have to miss a few days, that gets me all-the-more pumped when I actually do get out there. I've even built up some resistance to running, one thing that I used to detest.

So get moving...what do you have to lose besides the possibility of nasty health conditions and even a few pounds?
