The Secrets of Life, Part Two

So we're back here to unveil to you four more secrets of life. These are based on an article by Kathy Gates that you can view at http://www.innerself.com/Lifestyle_Chang...

The fourth "secret" of life is to always have more than you need, but not too much.

"Reserves are important because they reduce the fear of consequences, and allow you to make decisions based on what you really want, instead of what the fear decides," Gates says in her article.

And she's right. Living "paycheck to paycheck" for example can force you to make decisions based on fear, and stress. Try to get out of bad financial situations as best as you can to ensure a happy life.

Don't go overboard, the idea is not to stash up millions. Just to have enough to make you happy.

Financial reserves are not the only kinds of reserves to have. One of great importance--time reserves. Give yourself enough time to relax, and do what you enjoy doing. It's very important for your mental and physical health!

Gates says the fifth secret of life is to eliminate distractions.

Gates says that up to 75% of mental energy can be tied up in things that are draining and distracting to you. Gates says that getting rid of distractions is hard for many people because many people have not really considered that there is, in fact, another way to live.

There is. And it takes time for us to realize it, and implement a new lifestyle. But it is possible.

Assess your life and see where your distractions lie. What things keep you from following your dreams? Getting things done?

Gates says the sixth secret is controlling your thoughts. This is very powerful, and coins the term, "mind over matter." Our minds are more powerful than we think. We can look at any situation in a positive light if we really try to.

"Believing there is a solution to the same old problems you encounter year after year is vitally important to creating a life that you love. Whatever you think and believe, you create. Listen to what you're telling yourself, and adjust that voice if you need to," Gates says.

Gates says the seventh secret to life is to start immediately. Yesterday is hte past; and today is a new day. Embrace it for all it is worth, and realize how much it is worth!

There really are no secrets to life. It's how you live yours that makes a difference, and brings you happiness. There's not magic words to make your life what you want, there is only you...and you can make your dreams a reality!
