Life Changes

People always say that change is a necessary part of life. Over the past couple of months, I've come to understand why.

I can't say that I fully comprehend why life has to change...why we have to evolve into people we never thought we would be...or why we have to go through gut-wrenching moments in our lives with only a small gleam of faith that we are making the right decisions. I can only say that I am learning how to go through these periods in life.

And although they can be extremely uncomfortable, changes are, in my opinion, life's beautiful way of teaching us about more than life, but ourselves as well.

So why is change necessary? Because life is all about growing, and changes allow us to grow...even when we are not ready.

It never seems to amaze me how quickly changes can happen. And how something that we see as so slight can have life-changing impacts on us.

I never realized how much changes in life affect us until they started happening to me. One year ago, I left college. I knew that I didn't know it all back then, but I never imagined that I 'd be where I am now. I never thought to myself at that ripe old age of 21, "Where do you think you'll be in a year?"

I simply went through the next six months of my life blinded, masked by a bout of depression until I finally, after much tribulation, got my first job. A week later, I moved out.

Last week, I moved again, this time to a year-round rental. Next week, I will start my second job.

When I look at what I've done, especially in print, it looks so much easier said (or printed, rather) than done (what I had to get through to be able to say all of that).

For those of us on the life change horizon, not only must we go through the process of changing things in our lives (relationships, jobs, homes, etc.) but we must also physically go through the adjustment of not having a loved one there, or physically trying to get used to something new. After that period, most people tend to go through a period of getting used to the new surroundings, or the lack of old ones.

It's not easy. But there is one thing that we must remember. These changes are necessary to make us into better, stronger people. Though the feelings associated with change may make you feel uncomfortable, they are not necessarily an indicator that the choice you've made is the wrong one.
