Journaling for Self Discovery

To you, it may just be a book lying there with empty pages. Eh, so you may fill them but what does it really mean for you?

Journaling is more than rants and raves and a neat place to put them in, although it is nice to voice yourself out on paper. However, journaling can be more than a venting session if you do it properly. It can help you get in touch with yourself, and enhance your life.

So how does one start? Very simple. Pick up a journal. Using a notebook works, but a nice looking journal makes your writing experience more exquisite. Next step--a pen!

Start writing. For many people, this step is difficult, so there are available many ways to break into a creative burst.

Ask yourself questions. You can try some of the following:

Am I satisfied with my life right now? Why or Why Not? If I could be one person right now, who would I be and why? What is my deepest darkest fear? What has today taught me? What are my plans for tomorrow?

The list is obviously endless. Also, check out some web sites that have journaling information and creative leads you can use to rant your feelings.

If you click over to http://www.lifejournal.com, there is a software package that you can purchase to help you begin a journaling career.

Another link that will help you break into the field is http://www.newlifestories.com. This site has a wealth of information geared to help those who want to learn how to get into the field of journal writing in order to develop themselves.

BellaOnline.com, the women's magazine online, has a page dedicated to writing and journaling, which was created by the Self Improvement Host, Kathleen Palmer. Check this one out...http://search.bellaonline.com/beauty/sel...

The most important thing to remember is that there are no rules. Just write. Spelling and grammar do not matter, just get your feelings out, even if you think they are meaningless rants.

Although you should frequently journal, and may find that you will soon become addicted to it, it is okay if you take lapses in your writing.

It may be hard at first and feel like work. that is to be expected, in fact. That's a good sign. Practice, write when you don't necessarily want to--it will help you break into your feelings and find out who you really are.

After all, we can always learn more about ourselves!
