War and Peace, Prior to Reading

It has also been said of Tolstoy’s novel War and Peace that it advocates the use of Calculus while studying history. Another theory or study that has been conducted is that of locating, or attempting to locate, secret codes similar to what was found with the book of Genesis. This concept is taking the sentence structure and how it translates to Hebrew and exploring what you find. The thing about this book that grabbed my interest was the historical accounts associated with the Napoleon era. I found some interesting facts about the Russian solider, Napoleon was afraid of them because of their tenacity.Napoleon once said about the toughness of the Tsar's soldiers that this is not enough to kill a Russian, you have to push him. The average age of a Russian Infantry Solider was 29, and 44% of them were of peasant origin. Each family that was chosen to help supply men for the army were to determine who was to go and represent them. So the war was indeed a family affair.

Through a little background research my interest in actually reading and finishing the novel War and Peace has been even more enticed. Tolstoy is a favorite author of mine because he takes life and history and uses literature to not only describes a time frame but to also show the world how we should have done things differently.
