Online Markets

This week I will discuss finding online markets for your work. With the invention of the Internet, writers were given many more places to sell their work. Some even say that the world wide web is an easier place for writers to get their work published than the print markets. However, some also say that if you are only published online that you are not a real writer.

A writer needs to be in print. Whether it be on a web page or in the old standard the paper market. Every writer needs to start somewhere. Their are thousands and perhaps even millions of places on the Internet where you can sell your work. Online magazines, content websites, and other websites. Every website has someone behind the scenes that wrote that the content.

Online magazines otherwise known as e-zines are in great abundance on the Internet. They cover every topic under the sun from pets, family, religion, and social issues. Their also e-zines that publish only fiction and poetry. A great way to find these e-zines is through search engines or sites that list e-zines. One such site is Info jump.

Content websites are websites like Suite101 that depend on freelance writers for their content. Other websites that would be in this category Terrashare and About.com. Other content websites include pay-per-click websites such as Epinions. and Themesteam.

As I said writers are need for every website. Even if the website is not an e-zine or a content website, a writer is still needed to write the words on the website. Many websites will hire writers to write this content as well. You might need to look for this type of work, but their are many sites that list freelance work for writers.

Next week, I will continue my discussion on the the Internet with a discussion about how building your own website can benefit you as a writer.
