Topic Plan for the Year

The Plan for the Linux for business topic for the year 2000.

This will be a year of growth and changes. How far we can make it onto desktops, and integration, and scalability issues abound. Money is finally coming in the form of venture capital, and things are going to start to move quickly. The growth of VA Linux has given the Linux developers confidence that they can add value to the mix.

The Linux for Business topic will cover the regular beat of linux news, and useful business apps for Linux. If this editor finds some other really useful things on the web, I want to add that and let you know. An example of this is http://www.dialpad.com . This is a site which gives you free long distance calling anywhere in the US for FREE. Yes, FREE. I had to tell you!

While I know that readers will want the topic to be exclusively Linux, the real world sometimes holds interesting and useful non-Linux tools, and I hope to add value to this column by passing those on to you.

Our next issue will cover new graphical user interfaces (GIU's) that are cropping up to help users get past the unix style command lines which thwart newbies. Till then, Glenn
