3. If you are visiting friends or family with ferrets in tow, or taking your ferrets to a care provider's home, make sure your host understands the ways of weasels. Be honest and upfront about your pets' habits and needs.

4. When you setand your ferrets arrive at your destination, up their temporary dwellings in a ferret- proofed room. Remember that your critters will be overwhelmed with curiosity and the chance to explore new surroundings, and take appropriate measures to protect them and your host's property.

5. Supervise all interactions with two and four-legged members of the household and your pets. If you are leaving your ferrets in someone else's care, make sure he or she understands the importance of keeping interactions with children and other household pets supervised.

6. If you are traveling long distances with your ferrets, make sure you have identified a veterinarian who regularly treats ferrets near your destination in case emergencies arise.

7. If you and your ferrets are staying with someone, be a good house guest. Clean the area where your ferrets are residing daily. Check and double-check for misfired poops.

8. Don't let your ferrets be overwhelmed with curious folks. Ask people to limit their handling of your ferrets and to visit the room where your fuzzies are dwelling in small numbers as opposed to large groups.

9. As much as possible, keep to your normal routine for feeding, medication, and out-of-cage playtime.

10. Make sure that favorite toys and hammocks travel with your ferrets so that they'll feel like they're "home away from home."

Whatever you choose, with advance planning and care you can ensure a positive experience for you, your hosts or ferret caretakers, and most importantly, your fuzzies themselves.
