9. Leave as much information about the specific needs of your ferrets and their unique personalities as you can. Obviously, this includes medical histories and any special treatments required. But other things are important too. Do two of your ferrets not get along and require separate housing and playtimes? Does one of your fuzzies always retreat to a favorite hard-to-find hidey hole during playtime? These are also things your care provider should know. 10. Once you find a willing and qualified care provider, keep him or her happy. Call to check on your pets and answer questions that may arise. Buy him or her a nice souvenir. When you return home, send a thank-you card from yourself and your fuzzmonsters. Under certain circumstances, you might opt instead to bring your ferrets with you, or to take them to the home of the person who will care for them while you are away. Below are some tips and things to think about if you decide to go this route. 1. Many hotels, flights and other modes of transportation do not welcome ferrets. You may have to plan on driving to your destination or explore your travel options well in advance if you choose to take your ferrets with you. 2. Ferrets are very susceptible to discomfort and illness resulting from hot or cold temperatures. If you are planning a trip with ferrets, travel during milder times of year. Take measure to ensure that your car isn't too warm or that your ferrets aren't in cold temperatures for any length of time.
