How do I put the rubbish out?
Normally I try to show parts of New Zealand life that might be unique; this time I want to write about a very basic natural instinct that is universal, animal urges or very simply put Sex. Here I am, learning to come to terms with a new life of the total ruler of the home, (well as much as 2 teenage daughters and a 10yr old son allow), including fixing the leaking tap, putting the rubbish out and looking after the sundry family members including the pets. Everything seemed to be going to plan until the dog decides this is a wonderful time to sow his seed. Zeb is a Doberman cross Staffordshire of approx 7 very lazy years and has never had these urges before, I think he must have been a VERY late developer. He would sit at the gate and watch the world go by, Now!! The first few times I thought.."Oops, I haven't being walking him enough". I mean how do you walk the dog when you are chasing chickens around the yard, clambering up and down ladders trying to trim the grapevine off the neighbours trees or anything else that I have put off for years but now could keep me busy. First he went visiting my Son at school, which caused lots of amusement, a bit like the nursery rhyme, but a brown and tan dog instead of the lamb. Then he worked out what time my oldest walked home at lunch and met her at her school gate. Now I am afraid, we have all being abandoned for he has finally found his Love!! It makes you wonder are all males of any species this persistent. I have locked the 5½ft gate with a metal chain. He jumps it now. I shut him in his kennel, with a tyre on the roof. He got out. Now it has 3 tyres and a concrete paver on it. He is so quick, all it takes is the kids to come in the front door and he is gone. Running down the street like a mad man, Desire!!. You have to laugh. If I think back far enough, did the guys chase the girls like this. I'm afraid to acknowledge that they did and us demur girls in our very short skirts, hot pants, bare midriffs (yes they were around before Britney) weren't acactly sending them away.. Nature and time really is universal..
