Explorers of Canada, Part XV: Sieur de la Salle


An expedition in 1684 was to create a colony on the Mississippi but he miscalculated and ended up stranded in Texas. He tried to set up fort there but he was killed by a group of mutineers on March 19, 1687. The rest of the expedition returned to Montreal.
