Elections: Part II, the Canadian Alliance

Stockwell Day and the CA believe that tax cuts are leaving Canada behind in the ranks of best standard of living. Taxes take most of family expenditure and Canada has the highest income-tax burden in the G-7. The Alliance has scraped its previous 17% flat-tax with its "Fair Tax Plan" which is slightly better the less money and would put 1,4 million (4% of the population) Canadians off the tax roll. The Alliance says it will establish a $3,000 per year, per child, tax exemption. There will be also more tax cuts so that parents can help their children's education (so you could send your kids to private school and get tax reductions). Another bunch of tax cuts will lower the price of fuel for Canadians and the GST will be cut. The Alliance plans to fight the brain drain by lowering or eliminating taxes that hurt job creation.

Health has also been a very important issue in this election and the Alliance will maintain Medicare and make a better cooperation between the Ottawa and the Provinces. There will be better financing and improving information. National standards for health care will be established with help of the provinces.

For the Community Day will make communities safer and harshening sentencing on criminals. The Alliance will change the Firearms Act and replace it with a control system that lets Canadians own and use guns responsibly. Any illegal immigrant will be deported back to his/her country and the Alliance will establish a minimum jail fine for exploiting or smuggling illegal migrants in Canada. The Government of Canada needs to be changed, according to the CA, and open voting in the Commons and an elected Senate are on the bill for this issue as well as a American-like fixed election date every four years. The CA apparently cares about the environment and therefore have decided they will help protect it although how is a question I'm going to ask them. The CA has also decided it would introduce a aboriginal equality, repeal of ethnicity and gender quotas and a reform of the immigration policy. The pride of the military must also be restored as well.

Anyway, see you next time when we see the Bloc Québecois.
