Georgian (VI) Era For the first time in Canadian History, the King visited Canada. HRH King George VI and his wife, Elizabeth (Queen Mother, now) did a coast-to-coast tour. During the war (actually, 1940-46), Princess Alice resided in Canada while her husband Earl of Athlone was Governor General. In 1941, Prince George, Duke of Kent, made visits to RCAF air bases and training centres in Canada. The same year, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor visited their ranch near Calgary (Royals all have ranches in Alberta it seams). In 1945 they spent holidays in New Brunswick. For her first visit, Queen Elizabeth was still a princess. In 1951, Princess Elizabeth and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh (now Prince Philip) toured Canada from Coast-to-coast.

Elizabethan (II) Era (present era) Since there are so many trips to Canada during this time. It is only official visits which involve the Queen, not other Royal family members alone.

The Queen made her first appearance in Canada as a monarch in 1957, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh where she opened 1st session of the 23rd Parliament in Ottawa. During a period of forty-five days in 1959, The Queen and Philip had a tour of each province and the two territories. In 1964, The Queen (with Philip) made another visit to Canada, this time for the 100th year of the Confederation Conferences in Quebec and Charlottetown. 1967: Year of the Centenary of Canada. The celebrations were attended by Queen Elizabeth and Philip Duke of Edinburgh (in Ottawa) Queen Mother (in Maritimes). Also that year was the Expo 67 in Montreal attended by the Queen, Prince Philip and Princess Margaret. Philip also opened the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg and went to Toronto later in the year.

In 1970, Charles Prince of Wales and Princess Anne had a tour of Manitoba with the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh. Princess Anne and Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip both returned to Canada the next year for a trip of BC. In 1973, the Queen and Prince Philip had another tour. This time it was mainly for the centennial of PEI and of the RCMP. The Queen also had Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. For the 1976 Olympics, the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew Prince Edward and Princess Anne. 1977, celebrations for the Silver Jubillee (110 years) were attended by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh. In 1978, The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward all made a trip to Canada for various reasons. Probably the most important Royal visit came in 1982, when the Queen came to Ottawa for the Proclamation of the Constitution Act of 1982. The Queen spent four days in BC after a US West coast tour in 1983. In 1984 (my year) the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh made a tour for the bicentennial of New Brunswick and Ontario and the Queen alone went for a brief tour of Manitoba. In 1987, The Queen participated in the opening session of government in British Columbia as well as the Heads of Government Meeting and toured Saskatchewan.
