1994
Vancouver Canucks almost make the comeback of the century but New York Rangers win game 7. It's the last Canadian Finals Appearences. Speaking of the NHL, A lockout begins in September and lasts until January of 1995. A large trade delegation is sent to China. 55 Canadian Peacekeepers are held hostage in Bosnia. Liberal Daniel Johnson becomes Premier of Quebec replacing Robert Bourassa. Parti Quebecois leader Jacques Parizeau is elected Premier of Quebec.
1995
The Right Honourable Romeo LeBlanc becomes Governor General of Canada early in the year. The First Canadian Airborne Regiment is disbanded because of the release of videotapes containing "brutal hazing rituals". The Canadian Coast Guard apprehends Spanish fishing boats for illegal fishing in Canadian Waters. The Province of Ontario elects Tory Mike Harris. Disney buys marketing rights from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. How low can you go? Oh, October: Quebec votes against secession 50%-49% in a province wide referendum. Ouch, that was close (missing 1%? There's point-something after the 50% and the 49% although I know not what they are). After the failure of the Quebec referendum, Premier Jacques Parizeau step down. New Democrat Roy Romanow is re-elected Premier of Saskatchewan. Gary Filmon, Tory leader, is re-elected as Premier of Manitoba. Frank McKenna is re-elected in New Brunswick.
1996
Lucien Bouchard accepts to become Premier of Quebec. Jacques Villeneuve wins F1 race in Nuerburgring. Marc Garneau goes into space for the second time (only Canadian in Space twice). And Canada has its best Summer Olympic showing at the Atlanta Olympic Games (3 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze) and Donavan Bailey gets the world record for the 100-meter race. Canada loses the first ever World Cup of Hockey to the Americans. Don't you miss the Canada Cup? NDP Michael Harcourt re-elected Premier of Alberta.
Brian Tobin becomes Premier of Newfoundland.
1997
Canada re-elects Liberal, Jean Chrétien in National Election. Tory Ralph P. Klein re-elected Premier of Alberta. Raymond Frenette replaces Frank McKenna as Premier of New Brunswick. Russell MacLellan becomes Premier of Nova Scotia.
1998
the City of Toronto, City of Scarborough, the City of North York, City of York, City of Etobicoke and Borough of East York amalgamate even after Majority of Metro-Torontonians vote against the project.
