Most surprising though, is that Marianopolis College, a private, anglophone CEGEP in Montreal, most of whose population is from Liberal-voting families, went on a one-day strike.
Tension is rising. The students who had already done school occupations, moved on to more and more direct action such as a 103-hour study-in in front of Charest's Montreal office by Concordia students. The Coalition de l'Association pour une solidarité syndicale étudiante élargie, one of the two major Federations of Students has called for direct action from its member associations in order to put more pressure on the government.
