October 1 1793 - Peter Kaiser, Liechtenstein’s greatest historian, was born in Mauren. He studied languages and history in Feldkirch, Vienna and Freiburg/Breisgau. He played a great part in 1840’s in peacefully bringing about necessary changes in Liechtenstein while most other countries suffered revolts. October 4 1911 – A postal agreement between Austria and Liechtenstein was signed. This agreement was cancelled after Austria’s defeat in WW1 and Liechtenstein sought a similar agreement with neutral Switzerland. October 7 1837 - Liechtenstein signed a treaty with Switzerland on joint regulations such as the regulation of the Rhine to help control and reduce flooding.. October 10 1959 - Prince Friedrich of Liechtenstein died. October 17 1966 - Marie Caroline Princess von und zu Liechtenstein was born. October 24 1872 - The first train crossed Liechtenstein with a stop at Schaanwald, Schaan and Nendeln. Liechtenstein does not have its own railway but is serviced by the Austria railroad connections to Switzerland. 1947 - Nikolaus Prince von und zu Liechtenstein was born. October 28 1967 - Sophie Princess von und zu Liechtenstein née Duchess in Bavaria was born. October 31 1950 - Nora Sartorius née Princess von und zu Liechtenstein was born. Previous Month – September September 5 1718 - The people of Liechtenstein took the oath of allegiance before the Prince’s emissary, Harprecht, in Vaduz. The arms and colors of the new ruler replaced the old in Vaduz castle. September 7 1975 - Rudolf Prince von und zu Liechtenstein was born. September 11 1971 - Wedding of Philipp Prince von und zu Liechtenstein and Isabelle de l'Arbre de Malander. 1997 - Russia returned the archives of Liechtenstein's royal family in exchange for a dossier on the execution of Russia's last czar. The Red Army had seized the Liechtenstein family archives in Austria at the end of World War II when it captured the Liechtenstein castle near Vienna. Prince Hans Adam had bought the Sokolov archive at a London auction in 1990. Sokolov was a White Army officer who investigated the July 1918 execution of Russia's last czar, Nicholas II, and his family in the city of Yekaterinburg. September 26 1862 – Johann II with the approval of the Diet proclaimed a new constitution in Eisgrub Castle Go To Page: 1
