Specific groups of people: Celebrities Internet Movie Database Currently contains information on 1,261,477 people including actors, directors, producers, writers, costume designers, etc. Provides an excellent search engine. Find-A-Grave Find where famous dead people are buried, searchable by name or date, and browsable by name, location and claim to fame. Nom de Guerre A comprehensive alphabetical list of names including authors, actors, athletes, musicians, and other individuals. Also searchable by pseudonym, real name, occupation, birth or death date (year), or keyword. BigChalk HomeworkCentral Biography Canada This one should really go in the 'general' sites of last week since it covers well-known Canadian authors, scientists, historical leaders, poets, and women. Scientists Nobel E-Museum The official web site of the Nobel Foundation. From the site: "Nobel e-Museum offers information on all 736 Prize Winners to date, the Nobel Organization, Alfred Nobel, and Nobel events, as well as educational material and games. Nobel e-Museum consists of more than 9,000 static documents, several databases and a number of multimedia productions with Nobel Prize connection." The National Inventors Hall of Fame Search the Hall of Fame by keyword or browse by inventor, invention, induction date and decade. Religious Figures BigChalk HomeworkCentral Biography Popes A nice collection of biographical essays and articles from various reference sources. Catholic Online: Saints and Angels An exhaustive list of Saints that contains all known information about each Saint. There is also information about this months Saints, general FAQ about Saints, Patron Saints and a Feastday List. Also searchable by keyword. Politicians & Leaders Prime Ministers of Canada 1867 to Date Includes various biographical, political and cultural data on Canada's Prime Ministers. Biographical Directory of the United States Congress, 1774 to Present Biographical information for all individuals who have served in the United States Congress and the Continental Congress. Searchable by name, position, state, party, year or congress. Using the drop-down menus you can create useful lists, for example, a list of all U.S. Presidents who served in the Congress. Biographies are short, but informative. Chiefs of State and Cabinet Members of Foreign Governments From the CIA, provides listings by country. The Political Graveyard An impressive site that contains data on "107,137 Politicians, Judges, Diplomats" at last viewing. Provides the location of their final resting place and is browsable alphabetically by name, state and county, office or election, birth or death date, by "special recognition or distinction", party affiliation, and many other criteria.
