If you didn’t see it, check out last week’s article Canadian Librarianship - Part 1. This week's article is a continuation of Canadian librarianship resources on the Web, and the Canadian Research Guide.
Canadian Librarianship and Libraries Canadian Librarians in America - A site specifically geared toward those librarians who have chosen or are thinking of choosing to move to the United States and work under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Provides links to information about obtaining the TN permit, other legal concerns, job leads in "Canadian-friendly" libraries, tips for new arrivals, and a message board. Women in Canadian Librarianship and Bibliography - From the National Library of Canada, biographies of ten women important to Canadian librarianship. Includes a short biography, picture, and selected works by and/or about each librarian. This site is a great place to find out about the history of libraries and librarianship in Canada. From the site: "The women selected represent the various regions of Canada and the various aspects of both librarianship and bibliographical research. They have contributed to the Canadian library community at the local, provincial and national levels. Many of these women were instrumental in the establishment of the Canadian Library Association and served terms as CLA President. All of them have played pivotal roles in early Canadian librarianship and bibliography". Libraries Today - A very unique and impressive site about the history of libraries and librarianship in Canada, with a focus on Ontario. I especially like the Canadian Library Internet Histories page which provides links to biographies of individuals and specific library histories across Canada. For instance, check out Vancouver Public Library's historical roots going back to 1869, read about Hamilton Public Library and it's predecessors, and learn about various Canadian academic and special library histories too. Other features of this site include the Ontario Library Picture Gallery, and Library History Study Links which includes library history resources across Canada as well as for U.S. and international research. Selected Libraries and Other Sites of Interest - Vancouver Public Library (I used to work there, as did my Grandmother. Great public library) / Justice Institute of British Columbia Library (I used to work here too) / Toronto Public Library / Richmond Public Library (recognized for their technological innovations) / SLAIS (The University of British Columbia's Library School, and where I went to library school. Has a First Nations Curriculum Concentration, a Master of Archival Studies, and a joint Archival and Library and Information Studies program) / Here's a comprehensive list of Canadian public libraries from the NLC / Here's a list of special, academic and public Canadian libraries from LibDex / LibraryNet
