Monito and Elyse are as people oriented and mischievous as our bunch. They are not overly familiar with canines in general and not with exceptionally hairy little people at all. As a result of the move, my friend needed a new vet. Naturally, I recommended our vet because he is the best in the country.
Since they had to make a trip down here to introduce Monito and Elyse to their new doctor anyway, my friend and her husband decided to drop by our house while they were here. The resulting episode was hilarious. They came in with their kids and ours rushed to greet the visitors. Everyone stopped dead in their tracks at the first glimpse of the others. Our kids were the first to move. Approaching the newcomers with a great deal more caution they had exhibited a few minutes earlier, they sniffed gingerly and offered to touch noses. Coati-mundis have very long, flexible noses, a real shock to the pug-nosed kids.
One of the kids yipped in surprise, causing Monito to leap to his mom's shoulders and proceed to steer her with her ears to a safer local. Elyse climbed Dad's leg and held on for dear life. The kids were crestfallen to see the trepidation they had created. They stood carefully against the two humans and tried to reassure Monito and Elyse that their intentions were honorable. After several minutes of cautious overtures, everyone returned to the ground to proceed with introductions. They was much sniffing and touching, everyone decided to be friends. At that point, everyone leaped into action. Literally bounding off the walls the entire crew spent the next hour involved in a full scale romp. Finally, everyone collapsed into a heap, Lhasa and Coati-mundi tangled and piled together they took a long nap to recover from their exertions.
