The Move

We are packing again. The house closes in a couple of weeks so we have move again. This is the third time since this mess started and the kids are not happy. The move shortly after the divorce was the first time any of them had ever relocated. They were afraid and unhappy from the beginning and their outlook has not change since then.

They endured the first move silently, wary and confused, they went along with the program, exhibiting their discomfort by clinging tightly to their human companions. By the second move, they become more vocal about their displeasure, grumbling and complaining often. Apparently, they have decided not to take this third move laying down, literally. Sunny started the rebellion. He began removing items from parked boxes. Stealthily at first, then more openly. It has reached the point now where, if you do not tightly close the box, one of the exceptionally hairy children will completely unpack it for you, with or without your approval.

We are having lengthy discussions concerning the manner in which we will attempt to physically relocate Lhasas. It has become increasingly apparent that they are going to make it as difficult as possible to accomplish this task. We fear not so much reprisals as decampment. We are afraid that one or more of these unhappy members of the family might try to escape our friendly clutches and venture out alone into the not so friendly world.

In order to insure their safety, we have to be able to keep them contained. This may not be an easy accomplishment with all of the doors open to move furniture and boxes. We do not want to drag them all to the new house and then leave them there alone while the humans go back for the material goods, but we cannot have them running rampant with open doors either.

At this point we have not found a good solution for this problem. We are still exploring every possible avenue and we are open to suggestions. We will have to have a game plan by moving day or we will spend the whole time containing Lhasas instead of relocating them.

Living with Lhasas is always an experience...some times I wonder if life would not be a whole lot easier if they were not quite as intelligent as they are.
