AngelsI live in a zoo! I have suspected for some time that this is the case, but now I know for sure. It is not the members of the animal kingdom that make this place a zoo, even though our family includes 5 Lhasa Apsos, 2 birds, 2 cats and 6 ferrets, and the recent addition of 6 baby Lhasa Apsos, thanks to Dancr and Sunny. It is the other half, the human half, that turns this place into a zoo. We just had to move, unplanned and unexpected, it threw everything into total turmoil. The fur kids have actually adapted quite well to this upheaval, even though it has required no small amount of reorganization and adjustment. But we humans are struggling to make the adjustment. The circumstance that made this move necessary are taxing on all of us, the equine members of our family are still being held hostage, and the fur kids do miss them. Nerves are on edge and tension is high. The fur kids have excelled at comfort and calming this last month. They spend all of their time giving solace and reassurance. Even Dancr, with a brand new family, finds the time somewhere. The new babies, tiny as they are, have already developed the ability to give comfort and pleasure. They are surprisingly expert at cuddling and kissing for ones so young. In some ways, it was bad timing for their birth, with the move and the uncertainty and confusion it brought, but in others it was a blessing. It has helped us keep things in perspective, to realize that life will go on and that, in spite of the temporary loss of our horses and property, we still have a lot to be grateful for. These tiny little angels have helped all of us overcome the grief and misery of our situation, they and the rest of the fur kids, have brought us happiness and enjoyment. They have given us the strength to keep fighting and the will to go on. Not all of God's angels have four legs and fur--but these sure do!
