PPFK: Valentine's Jewels

Feb 2, 2001 - © Seshat

Step 6: When the jewel, or jewels if you have created several, dries use a hole punch to place a hole in it. For small jewels, use a sharp pencil or pen tip to push a hole through, or have an adult use a sharper tool. For larger pieces, a hole punch works great.

Step 7: Now, thread the yarn or twine through the hole and you have a simple necklace you can wear yourself, or give to a family member or friend.

Optional Variations: Make several jewels in different colors and string them using knots or beads between them for a fanciful necklace. Make a matching bracelet or belt. Experiment with overlapping layers of different coloured construction paper and sanding the center to let the next colour show through giving jewels added dimension. Use crayons, pens, pencils, paints, glitter, beads, or braided yarn or twine to embellish these fun and easy to make paper jewels.
