We Are One

God Bless America

I received this e-mail, 'letter to America' from a fellow Lestrian, it touched my heart during a time of complete disbelief and anguish at the world around us. I'd like to share it with you.

Hello Beth,

Yesterday as I sat and shared (by CNN) in the service from the National Cathedral I wept. Miss Graves singing of America the Beautiful was the most wonderful sound I have ever heard. The message from Mr Bush - I never thought I would say it, but he is coming out of this a statesman and I, and I am sure everybody else (apart from a few left wing loonies), will give him support in whatever action he sees fit.

His message to the murderers delivered from NYC "I hear you - the world hears you - and those that did this will soon hear from us" - will stay with me for a long time.

It is understandable that Americans are feeling very patriotic over this - however, please do not forget that the whole world is affected not just the USA and chants of 'USA' can be translated as "Freedom and Democracy everywhere". We in the UK are just as hurt by these evil people.

Remember the grief of the USA is the grief of the world. As Europe came to a stand still for three minutes yesterday, it gave a message to everybody - we SHALL overcome.

Never in the history of the world have so many nations come together, united and with one voice. Let us hope that after this is all over, the world remains one, and the path towards a one world government is ever nearer.

Best wishes

Max

Max's last paragraph perhaps allows a glimmer of light into the darkness during these troubled times. The differences in race, creed, colour or religion, no longer matters. Let us hope that countries around the world don't allow the people who have died, to die in vain. Hands are being extended all around the world, we should and must grasp them and never let go. Life will continue to go on, it has a strange way of pressing forward and hopefully with those forward steps will come eventual peace and understanding. As Max said so very well, "Do not forget that the whole world is affected not just the USA, and chants of 'USA' can be translated as "Freedom and Democracy everywhere".

God Bless America

I agree with you Elizabeth and Max. If the Taliban would agree to US conditions and hand Bin Laden over to be tried, then a war may be averted.
However, it's too late to negotiate now, and I don't s ...
