Summer in Leicestershire may not always be guaranteed, but in terms of events, August is HOT! Perhaps the busiest month of the calendar year, Leicester in August has a host of events which are diverse enough in nature that they will suit even the most discerning of people.

Seeing as August is here already, I've put together a list of many events with various themes and hopefully you won't find it too difficult to choose one!

National Playday

The Leicester Caribbean Carnival
This event seems to get bigger, better and more fun every year! Held on Saturday 7th this year, the Carnival begins at Victoria Park and winds it's way through the City Centre before ending back at the park with partying well into the night!
Costumes are bright and spectacular, as are the floats, and you cannot miss the tantalising smell of Caribbean food available for purchase. Eat drink and be merry!! This carnival attracts thousands of visitors each year, so get your spot early!

Medieval Day and Archery
Held at Belvoir Castle, this is an event for the history lover. Not only can you tour historic Belvoir Castle, but Medieval Day recreates the experience of days long past.

Classical Music Concert
Held in Abbey Park on Saturday 14th, music lovers should appreciate this concert which offers contemporary as well as classical styles of music.

The Abbey Park Festival
Saturday August 14th. Live music, food from all over the world, bars, children's village and arts and crafts. What's not to love at this festival??

Music and Firework Spectacular
Also held on Saturday 14th, at Stanford Hall in Lutterworth, this impressive event matches music and fireworks with spectacular results!

The Castle Park Festival Saturday 21st August to Monday 30th August. One of my particular favourites, this festival celebrates Leicester's heritage, from both the past and the present.

Battle of Bosworth Re-enactment
Sunday 22nd allows you to watch the Battle of Bosworth exactly as it happened. Held on the battlefield itself in Market Bosworth, this event is a must for history fans.
