Tours can be taken at the foundry which relates all aspects of bell founding from early times. The display on offer is set in the largest bell foundry complex in the world. The first grand carillon in Britain, the 'Carillon War Memorial' in Queen's Park, was erected to the memory of Loughborough men who died in the two World Wars. Inside, the Museum of Armed Forces has displays dating back to World War I. The Old Rectory Museum is a rare stone manor dating from the 13th Century. It has been the scene for local archaelogical finds, Victoriana and lace making. Exhibits include maps and drawings of old town Loughborough. For those of you who prefer country pleasures, Charnwood Forest offers many. Split into several different areas, perhaps the most recognisable is Bradgate Park. Now home to deer herds, the park was formerly the home to the nine day queen, Lady Jane Grey. Four times a year, the National Art Decofair is held at Loughborough Town Hall. Running now for 21 years, it attracts both dealers (with over 30 years trading experience) and collectors from all over the world. If you favor art of a more mechanical nature, then the Great Central Railway is a 'must' for train enthusiasts. As Britain's only main line steam railway, trains operate frequently between Loughborough and Leicester. To experience a more hands on approach or to recreate the perfect experience, try their Bronze, Silver or Gold package. Not only do you actually get to drive a steam train, but they'll throw in a complimentary meal too! Of course there are always those you of you that wish to seek the thrill of something out of the ordinary. Enter the 'Loughborough & Leicester Vampire Live Roleplay Society!' I haven't quite figured out yet just exactly what is involved in this society, but it was founded in 1997 and is game which involves over 30 members. This 'role-playing' game which uses the White Wolf 'Laws of the Night System' includes having contact with other groups all over the country which invite you to "Sell your soul to immortality." Please by all means notify me, should you happen to unearth more information or wish to 'sell your soul,' as I'd really like to know why! So go pay Loughborough a visit!
