Navigating The Waterways.

For obvious reasons, I would recommend for your own sanity that if attempting a holiday of this kind, wait until your kids are old enough to enjoy it with you. Not only will you breathe easier knowing that they can swim, but I guarantee you, they'll want to open every lock they come across, which leaves you free to sit back and relax.

So if you manage a trip to England, then consider a holiday that's a little different. Hire a Narrowboat, trundle along, don't be in a hurry to get there and leave your cares way, way behind!

For more information into the canals of England, or for a canal map of the Grand Union, visit Canal Junction. This website will tell you all you need or want to know about man-made waterways, where they are and how they were created. It also has excellent links to other websites of historical value.

Should you ever fancy a trip on the canals of Leicester, you can hire a beautiful narrowboat from the Country Hotel Narrowboats. Visit their website, or contact them at: Country Hotel Narrowboats,
362 Victoria Park Rd,
Leicester,
England.
Tel/Fax: 011-44-116-270-555

Or e-mail them at: mailto:office@coun-hotel-nboat.demon.co....

Other websites:
Steev's Canal Pages
A cute website, which offers inside views of a regular narrowboat and also the functional purposes of locks. You can also access a waterway webring through here.

The UK Waterways Network
Covers everything about canals in the UK that you could ever hope to ask. Offers links to everything and anything to do with boating! You can hire from here, establish routes from here, and book in advance if you want to!
