Braunstone Park Visitor CentreBraunstone Hall itself, was built by James Oldham in 1775. Oldham later became the Lord Mayor of Leicester. There are stories that the hall maybe haunted. During it's construction 2 workers apparently fell to their deaths. The gardens of the hall were used to provide produce for the house, and there was also a small farm which provided food. The Winstanley's left Braunstone Hall in 1926 and it was converted into a school. It remained a school right up until July 1996, when it was finally closed. The stable blocks and coach houses were renovated and by 1989 were opened to the public. They remain a local tourist attraction today. Sources: Braunstone Park Visitor Centre.
