I am extremely embarrassed to admit, that I actually CALLED everybody to whom I had sent an e-mail, and I even (oh the shame!), prompted my husband into sending me a message - from the same computer I might add, and yes, I did actually sit there and watch him write it!

I tended to experiment with the Internet when my husband was at work - mainly for two reasons. Firstly, I didn't have a constant litany of terminology abusing my ears and secondly, if I boobed, then I could hopefully rectify matters before the computer God arrived home!

Naturally his warnings were ever present and so I proceeded carefully, refusing anything that contained the word "cookies" and deleted every attachment ever sent to me, especially "exe. files." ANYTHING that I wasn't completely certain of (which at that time included just about everything!), I left well alone or sent to the trash can. The result of all this being, that for the first month or so, I didn't progress beyond my e-mail functions!

Eventually however, curiosity got the better of me and I began to venture further afield. I believe that it was at this point that my computer completely absorbed me and then began to control me. I became a virtual addict in need of a constant fix, I became lost in a myriad of links, images and information - if the cat needed feeding, I'd research the best food!

However, I have to admit that these initial forays led to the beginnings of experience. Experimenting a little more each day increased my knowledge and soon, every time I connected, my confidence grew in leaps and bounds. I was outraged of course when I located a site that I wished to subscribe to and discovered the word, "cookies." I recall stomping into my husband complaining about it, only to be informed by that wonderful man in my life..."Everywhere uses cookies Darling." There is little need for me to inform you of my answer to this statement!

So, my experience with the Internet continued to progress and although I still have a lot to learn, I'm certainly a little more advanced than I first was. My time as a Suite101.com Editor has remarkably increased my experience, I have been introduced to new functions and with the wonderful support system they offer, I can even add a little HTML to my repertoire.

This gives me an immense feeling of satisfaction, at last I know something that my wonderful husband has no knowledge of!! I admit I brag a little, and now, if I come across a program that I want, I take the initiative without asking permission!
