Parents, teachers, homeschoolers and anyone wanting to help nurture a child's interest in exploring their artistic abilities will benefit from this course. It provides a portal to introducing children to the Internet safely and productively. Younger children will need the adult's help in going through the course. Older children should do well with it after a bit of guidance.

Joan Martine Murphy offers a way to enhance creativity, increase ideas and share that artistic expression with others. Although written for adults to use with age groups roughly between 5 and 13 years - other age groups like to do this course as well.

In "Action Kids Art Activities", the student will learn online ettiquette (netiquette), how to create their own signature block and how to participate in an online group. They will also gain a "web presence" by having their own free account, password and username. This experience alone will boost confidence.

Through the use of challenges, "think tank" discussion and journals, the student will begin to express their feelings and opinions through art, in a "think, feel, express" way. They also have the opportunity for feedback concerning their artwork.

Joan explains drawing, perspective and abstract through the use of both text and visual instructions. There's even a section giving information about the best frames to use to showcase the student's art.

For students to get the most out of taking this course, they will need a scanner. Students learn how to upload and send JPEG images. The course features an "online gallery" for showcasing the students' art online. A digital camera is also helpful, but not at all necessary.

The Internet can be both a positive and a negative place. Endeavors such as this course remind parents that using the Internet can be a shared positive experience for parent and child, especially since this is such a hands-on, interactive course.
