did. Again, honesty, which was refreshing.
It became the first of several novels with Jo as the main character, including, “Little Men, “ and “Jo’s Boys,” among others. Louisa May Alcott was taught at home until the age of 16 by her father. She wrote many books and stories, and eventually studied under Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson. She is considered one of America’s greatest novelists, and many believe that children’s writing was changed because of Alcott, whose thoughtful writing gave a new, more personal perspective of growing up. I enjoy “Little Women,” because I like the characters. The plot is good, the setting is good, but I really love the characters. I always identified with Jo, and obviously I’m not the only one. Because of that, “Little Women,” is the classic that it is. For a good Website on Louisa May Alcott visit: http://www.empirezine.com/spotlight/alco... For a great adaption of the book, rent the Wynona Ryder/Gabriel Burne/Susan Sarandon rendition. It’s one of my favorite movies, and certainly a good adaption.
