Tweening size and rotation

Last time, we applied Tweening motion to a ball. In TWEENED ANIMATION, we can also change size and rotation parameters of the object. Today we shall learn, besides the motion of a ball how it can change its size and rotation as well. In doing so, we shall make use of more than one keyframe as in the previous article. Above is an animation shown we shall create today so follow steps one by one.

STEP 1:

Press Ctrl+N to open a new file. Click frame number 1 and draw a ball as shown. In creating above animation only one layer will be used.

STEP 2:

Once a ball is created we need to convert it into symbol. Recall in the previous article I have mentioned that object is to be animated must be a symbol. Be sure ball is wholly selected and choose Insert > Convert to Symbol. Choose Graphic from the behavior and finally click OK.

STEP 3:

Click frame number 10 and choose Insert > Keyframe. Flash will automatically copy the contents of the frame 1 into frame 10. Open Transform Panel by choosing Window > Panels > Transform. Tick the Constrain box. In the width box, type 200 and press ENTER. Choosing Constrain ensures that object will increase equally in width and height. After pressing ENTER, the size of the object will become double. After that choose Rotate and type 180 in the rotation box. Well your keyframe is now ready as both size and rotation are defined. Click frame number 5 and choose Insert > Create Motion Tween. Click frame number 1 and press ENTER to play the animation. The ball should come closer while rotating.

STEP 4:

Now the ball will go back to its initial position while rotating. Click frame number 20 and press F6 to insert keyframe. Open Transform Panel, here be sure Constrain box is checked and type 100 in the Width box. The size of the ball will reduce to half. In the Rotate box, type 0. This keyframe is the same as keyframe number 1. Click frame number 15 and choose Insert > Create Motion Tween. Click frame number 1 and press ENTER to play the final animation. The timeline should be the same as shown above.
