Law Day 2001 Theme Speaks to Soul of Our Society* On May 9th, as part of “ABA in Washington events,” the ABA is holding a briefing for congressional members and staff on “Children in the Justice System: On Their Own.” The topics to be addressed include adoption, foster care, and state child protection court improvement; Legal Services Corporation assistance to vulnerable children and families; re-authorization of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Act; and protections and legal representation for unaccompanied children in the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. * On May 11th, the center and the ABA Steering Committee on the Unmet Legal Needs of Children are bringing experts together from throughout the country to discuss activities, conducted by lawyers inside public schools, to help meet the legal needs of children and their families.
