Latino Film Festival 2000

The Southern California Lincoln Mercury Dealership Association is sponsoring the San Diego Latino Film Festival 2000. The Media Arts Center of San Diego announced the Festival would take place March 7-12, 2000 at CinemaStar Luxury Theaters in downtown Chula Vista. The festival, which is celebrating its seventh year, will occupy three screens and will present 56 films and videos from Latin America and the United States.

Confirmed guests include: Arturo Ripstein (Divine, El coronel no tiene quien le escriba), Luis Valdez (Zoot Suit, La Bamba), and Patssi Valdez (Mi Familia, Luminarias). In addition to the guest filmmakers and actors, the fans will be treated to the finest and latest in Latino films starring Thalía (Mambo Cafe), Anthony Quinn (Oriundi), Salma Hayek (El coronel no tiene quien le escriba), Jennifer Lopez (Mi Familia), Cheech Marin (Luminarias), Paul Rodriguez (Mambo Café), to name a few.

The Media Arts Center of San Diego nurtures and supports film artists, and artists working in video, audio, and computer-based multimedia. The organization also provides scholarships. Most recently MACSD produced the successful First Annual Cine Mexicano: Mexican Film Series held August through October 1999.
