Do You Know What You're Allergic To?Since it’s impossible to completely avoid exposure to NRL everyday, you should identify the items which cause the most severe reactions in the most people (difficulty breathing, asthma attack, anaphylactic shock), and stay far away from those and similar items. For most of us, this primarily means NRL gloves, balloons, and condoms. You may find some products that cause you to develop a rash or hives. For example, I develop hives on my hand when I use a NRL computer mousepad, and my ears peel when I wear NRL foam headphones. I learned about those reactions by experiencing them and now I know to stay away from those products. For a complete list of consumer items that contain NRL, go to http://www.latexallergyresources.org/con... . Half of the battle is just being aware of your surroundings, and having a working knowledge of the items that may contain NRL—many of which you may use everyday without thinking about it.
