Say "Cheese"!

Being the mother of four little ones, you can bet I take lots of pictures. It seems that there's not a day that goes by that I don't experience a "Kodak Moment." My children love to have their pictures taken and I love capturing every smile, every toothless grin of their childhood. As much as I love taking pictures, I have a hard time keeping up with my photo albums. I've found myself a year behind and with every child it gets harder to keep the photo albums up to date. I've even reached a point where I dread sitting down with my photo albums, something I used to look forward to. In spite of the lack of enthusiasm for scrapbooking, I've developed a system that has helped me to keep up and has finally given me a reason to enjoy taking pictures again. The first thing I've come to realize is that unless I want to spend a whole bunch of time on my photo albums, they aren't going to be the cutest, most creative pages to look at. They are however, going to be organized, neatly done and up to date. I'm not going to feel guilty every time I look at my sister-in- laws photo albums because her photo albums are very eye catching. She likes to scrapbook and has the time for it. The second thing I've discovered is that once I developed a system, it was easier to keep caught up. If I don't have time to get my pictures into the albums the day I pick them up, I date them and put them into envelopes labeled with the month they were taken. This way, when I do get a few spare moments to work on my photo albums, my pictures are organized and ready to go. Finally, I've designated one day a month (or every other month) for scrapbooking. This works best if I've invited some friends. That way our kids can entertain each other and we can actually get some work done as well as have a good time ourselves. So the next time your kids are doing something adorable, don't hesitate to get the camera out. Remember, you'll need something to blackmail your kids with when they're teens!
