Lacemaking Bobbins - the tools of the Trade

A sample of bobbins
encouraged their husbands to make bobbins for them and turning bobbins is alive and well today.

Along with turning bobbins, painting on them has also developed. But unlike turners who are predominately men, painters seam to be mostly women. The small area on a bobbin leaves little room, but the tiny paintings are almost as amazing as the lace. There's nothing like a lovely lace pillow filled with and assortment of fantastic bobbins.
