Time to make some glitzy jewelry and take up exotic middle-eastern dancing (Bellydance!).
One of the easiest pieces of jewelry is to knit an i-cord and slip on glass beads, fastening with a ball button. The knitter's i-cord is simply formed by casting on 3, 4 or 5 stitches onto short, double point needles (you only require 2). Knit one row, then slide stitches to opposite end of needle. Pull yarn firmly across back of work and knit across. Repeat this step, making sure you tug when drawing the yarn across to avoid any loose stitches. Continue for length needed. Makes a quick anklet or bracelet. Screw in type fastenings can be purchased cheaply and sewn onto the ends. Also, garter strips of about 5 stiches wide can be used in the same way for a flat braid to decorate. They can be done up with attached ties or tassels. Try making these with bright cotton, linen or hemp for a change.
