Red Diamonds
Diamonds are a favorite shape for knitting and were even employed in the well-known design of the silk stockings worn by Queen Elizabeth. There are different methods of achieving the diamond shape, and of course they can be small or dominant. Diamonds are often used within cable borders for a sea sweater. where she uses a new technique that she discovered on a Burda doily pattern to neatly finish a 3-stitch decrease on the tip of a diamond. Make a note of this trick. It's a beautiful, sophisticated answer to a not-so-pretty decrease. Although it appears delightfully open, this stitch is not stretchy. I think it's great for a summer top. My latest pattern is Moroccan Spice, a kid mohair wallet-sized bag in an exotic combination of paprika and sage. Knitted mainly in the round and ornamented with glass emeralds and gold filigree. Easy to make.
