Sea StingersAlthough there are other species such as the Irukandji that have an extremely nasty sting, and are quite small making them hard to see, it is the Box Jellyfish that has the worst reputation amongst swimmers. It is particularly important for parents to be vigilant when their children are swimming as their light body weight may mean that the venom has a greater and swifter effect as it can reach further through the victims body. The moral of the story is to keep watch for jellyfish. They are extremely hard to see and often people get caught up in their pathways without even knowing there were jellyfish around in the first place. Remember, treat all jellyfish as dangerous, even though most are not, and swim safely. Refrences: 'Tiny jellyfish blamed for drownings' from Des Houghton, Brisbane.
