Whale Watching

Doesn't it all come down to people not respecting animals. Yes, I know the whale was already dead, but I still have a real problem with people treating a once living being's body in such a disrespectful way. The other point here is that going out into the domain of sharks in this way can be an extremely dangerous thing to do. Some of the charter operators found that a couple of days into this event as some of the sharks started to turn on the boats and take a bite or two at them. Considering that people were claiming that the sharks were bigger than most of the boats that were out there, this could have been a potentially disastrous situation.

As lovely and as fascinating as whale watching and shark watching can be, surely there is a line to be drawn between what is acceptable behaviour and what is not. I don't begrudge people enjoying the miracles and mysteries of nature but it should all be kept a safe and reasonable distance away from the action. Leave the sharks to do what they do best, leave the whale with some dignity in death, and watch from a distance, it's the smartest thing to do.
