W.I.T.C.H. The Power of FiveW.I.T.C.H. The Power of Fiveis the first book in the series. W.I.T.C.H. stands for the first initial of five friends: Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, and Hay Lin. Throughout this story each girl realizes that peculiar things begin to happen around her. For example, one cleaned her room by just wishing it were clean. Another stopped a ball of fire dead in its tracks. The girls come to meet each other through seeming normal circumstances at school and at a Halloween dance. These normal circumstances turn unusual when we learn that each girl has control of a certain natural element - air, water, fire, and earth. The fifth power was the keeper of the "Heart of Candracar". Why do these teenage girls have worldly powers you ask? These girls have become Guardians in an ancient battle between good and evil. You must read the book to find out the specific ancient story, as it is exciting to discover the clash between old worlds and our world of today. Besides dealing with these newfound special powers, the girls must also survive school, boys, and dances. The girls learn that growing up can be difficult at times, especially when you have to deal with bad grades, crushes, and freaky monsters trying to hunt you down. Take a look at the book's website at http://www.clubwitch.com. It is a very impressive website where you can find information about additional books in the series. You also can take a peek into the lives of each W.I.T.C.H. member through writing, pictures, and even videos. I thought this book was very fun and interesting. The book has a unique format. Anime comics are at the beginning and end of the story. You even receive a character card. Each chapter presents the point of view through a different character. Therefore, you can understand what each character is thinking. It may become confusing at times, but once you get the hang of changing characters it is fine. W.I.T.C.H. The Power of Five begins to reveal an ancient story and therefore does not come to a conclusion at the end of the book. You must continue to read the series to find out the rest of the ancient story. I'm on to reading the next book in the series with delight.
