The Prisoner of Azkaban

The third installment of the Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, hit movie screens June 4th. Did you feel that the movie closely matched the fun and excitement of the book? As each Harry Potter adventure increases in length (Book 3 is 435 pages) it has become more difficult for the movie to closely match the book. Even though certain chapters of the book were left out or just touched upon, I still feel that the movie closely resembled the book.

Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban reveals much more about Harry's mysterious past. Throughout the story we are not sure which characters we should trust. Ron's beloved rat, Scabbers, turns out not to be just any old rat. We are led to believe that Sirius Black is out to hurt Harry, when in reality he is there to protect Harry. These twist of events keep us flipping the pages and are at the heart of a good mystery.

As always, this Harry Potter adventure introduces us to fun, crazy characters like Professor Trelawney and scary characters like the dementors. Magical gadgets and spells abound as we watch Hogwarts students deal with Boggarts, the Marauder's Map, and Hermione's secret to attending two classes at the same time.

Also check out the new official website of author J.K. Rowling at http://www.jkrowling.com. You are transported to her writing desk where you can find information such as her biography, Harry Potter news, rumors about the books, and fun links. Note: The site uses flash animation, which may take dial up connections longer time to download.

Enjoy and happy summer!

Jillian,

I haven't seen the movie yet, but my grandsons have. They loved it. The oldest thought that it followed the book fairly close. Harry Potter piques the kids' imaginations and allows them to ...
