At the Movies

Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween! Besides snacking on a bag full of candy today, let's talk about the Harry Potter movies. Have you seen the Harry Potter movies? Have you spent lunch hour discussing with your friends whether Snape was really as slimy and sneaky as the book described?

On the official Harry Potter website, http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/home.h... you can see a "behind-the-scenes" view of the Harry Potter films. It is so cool!

Do you think that the first two Harry Potter movies stayed true to the books? If not, then what are the differences between the book and the movie? I have seen both films and feel that the movies were very similar to the books. Sometimes a book and its movie can be totally different, but in this case they were just about the same.

It was a delight to finally put "faces" to the characters I had read about in the book. Were there any characters that looked differently than what you imagined while reading the book? I always imagined Hagrid as being big, but the movie helped me to see that he was in fact GIGANTIC! Through the story, however, you realize that Hagrid is not a big, scary monster, but a wonderful, compassionate friend.

How do you think the author, J.K. Rowling, invented Harry Potter? There are several tales about her creative inspirations and her home life. She said that while she was riding a train, the image of Harry appeared walking down the isle of the train. How do you think the curious tidbits of magic were put into the stories?

In my next article I'll give you the scoop on some fantastic reading and writing websites that you might want to visit. Also, remember to check out my author website at http://www.dobbsdogdetective.com. My book is now available for pre-ordering.

Have a safe Halloween and have fun trick or treating!

Happy Halloween
