"Where does applesauce come from?"
Grab an apron and your child and teach them that applesauce doesn't grow on trees in those little plastic containers or those big glass jars! If you make the delicious Crock Pot recipe below, you will not only make some wonderful applesauce, show your kids how it's made, but also teach them about patience (it cooks 3-4 hours!). Crock Pot Applesauce 3 pounds apples (Granny Smith work well), peeled, cored and sliced In your slow cooker, combine the apples, brown sugar and lemon juice. Cook on "high" for three to four hours. Mash with a potato masher into the consistency you desire. Stir in cinnamon. You can serve this hot, at room temperature, or cold. This is great over vanilla ice cream!
